GAME CONCEPT

You are a maverick and an outsider, who is entrusted with
dangerous missions. Not because the General likes you, but because
you and your men get the job done.

-----------------------------------------

This is more than just an shoot 'em up. Your character will
be immersed in the depth and color of the Napoleonic period.
You will have to do more than just shoot and slash in order to succeed.

Of course you will get to fight plenty of foes and may even be asked to save a few damsels in distress. You will learn to ride and fight on horse back. How to pick locks and set black powder charges. It is you and your men against Napoleon's fearless Imperial Guard.

-----------------------------------

You have been assigned to an undisciplined platoon of
rough Irishmen in the 88th Foot. You must fight Napoleon's
best troops and deal with the always present problems of your own men. Our hero must lead the dregs of society, the real scum of the earth into battle. You must go up against military tradition, spies and double agents, and enemies who want you dead. The battle between good and evil will be fought once more on the fields of Europe.

The name of the game? THE Devils Own

 GAME OVERVIEW

Each mission will feature a select European location.
The first missions will take place in Spain during General Wellington's Peninsula campaigns against the French army.

Key Locations

· Small "walled in" town in Spain with military head quarters.
· The town has an open market in the center with plenty of streets.
· There vast fields and some forest out side the town.
Objects

You are an Elite Officer, who fights with sword and pistols. You lead charges against enemy positions, during pivotal points in the course of historical battles. You may have to fight a duel or rescue a hostage along the way to victory. The fate of everyone is in your hands, your actions will determine who lives or dies. The General has given the orders, you decide the tactics. Will you go by yourself to spy on the enemy or will you take the whole company to rescue the hostages. Will you choose a fast agile light Arabian horse or a strong stout stallion to carry you into and hopefully out of harms way.

Modify Unreal Tournament 2004/2004 Modes

I like the idea of taking UT2K3 game modes and adapting them to our story and missions.

Death match = a duel between 2 gentlemen/soldiers ( by making target cursor fade in slowly we could approximate, the drawing of weapon and counting to 10 )

Team death match = small squads battle it out ( hope to have both foot and mounted game play if possible )
NOTE: If you like challenges - then help us figure out how to design ( low poly count ) cavalry horse and animate it so we have a really unique game. I have looked but I have not found an adventure game were you get to ride animals into battle.

Capture the Flag = works great as capture the French Eagle, or the payroll box, rescue the fair maiden, retrieve secret papers.

Double Domination = In order to win the battle you must control the battle field ( take the artillery on the hill and then capture the farm house )

Bombing Run = pick up the powder keg, or special grenade, and throw it at enemy positions

I have heard of game modes where you and your team must fight off an enemy "on slaughter". If you die during battle you must wait until the mission is over before you can rejoin - So you try harder to survive. Picture the French Old Guard against the thin red line or an Infantry Square against cavalry charge.

Health = Food ( bread, fruit, beef jerky, ? )
I have heard of games with mini missions to catch your meal.
Permission to leave the line to shoot a rabbit or catch a chicken, these could be a mini mission in them selves.

Health pack = ( field doc or nurse helps you ) Maggie the maggot, and other fun stuff. A mission in which the doctor and nurse are trying to saw off your wounded limb, but you won't let them.

Shield pack = Imagine a think leather or steel breast plate (French cuirassier ) This is an opportunity for special , advance tech items - It may not have been used in actual battles but history shows that some one did think of it, or tried to sell the idea. Well our "Q" branch has heard of these ideas and has secretly developed working versions.

Double damage = They out lawed square bullets because they did too much damage to people.

Adrenaline = Sugar cane, Docs special mixtures.

Keg o Health= Keg of rum, your daily ration of drink

Charge to Victory

Napoleonic Era

THE Devils Own is an historical 3D action game set during the age of small professional armies, when the elite and best soldiers rode upon horses into battle. For the first time, you will experience Napoleonic battles up close, from the vantage pointing of a mounted officer. You as an infantry man and when possible as a cavalry trooper, in First-Person or Third -Person perspective. ( Cavalry will be possible in UT2004 )

The Mission

It was a typical mission for Officer John Hunter. Lead a company from the 88th Foot on a scouting mission. Locate the enemy army, fight a duel along the way, and capture an enemy officer. The captured soldier reveals the true intentions of the enemy forces. Now you must lead an attack against the enemy artillery before they bombard an important town. Your company is the only unit close enough to reach the town in time. You have a job to do!
